After a day of heavy rain, I hope you had a chance to look up and see how beautiful the Los Angeles sky was!I am filled with gratitude for all the wonderful gifts God has given us.
Here are some updates from last month.
Updates from Last Month
1. YL is thrilled because since opening her hair salon in September, she has more flexible time and better income even for the same hours of working. She says that everything—church, work, and her child—is going smoothly, which makes her naturally grateful.
JR's car was totaled in an accident, and she says she is in a lot of pain due to the after-effects of the crash. She is continuously receiving treatment at an oriental medicine clinic. She has not been able to start her tattoo work yet, but she is continuing with her job as a senior caregiver.
DJ met with her baby's father at a cafe to discuss child support. An argument broke out, and the father pushed her, causing her chair to flip and her to hit her head. Thankfully, there appears to be no major bodily damage. She is doing online work that she can manage when her child is with the father.
EP’s son has developed severe separation anxiety, unwilling to be away from his mother due to the trauma he experienced from his father. Fortunately, the house she used to share with the father, while the divorce is pending, has been sold. Her daughter testified in court that her father drove with the children while under the influence of alcohol, and as a result, he is currently under investigation by Child Protective Services and undergoing mandated education.
HJ mentioned she is looking for a new place to live because her landlord asked her to move out, stating they plan to move in. Her sister's family is going to visit her from Korea. While she is happy about the visit, she is also worried and uncomfortable due to her lack of financial resources.
EH put her child in daycare so she could go to work. The child had a hard time adjusting at first. However, the boss of her workplace has been very considerate to give her some flexible time shifts, and now the child is adjusting well. She is working comfortably at her new job. Her husband, who used to be in prison, has been released and is currently in a halfway house, so she is preparing to move just in case he tries to find her.
YY has uterine fibroids and is scheduled for surgery in mid-October. Her child is still receiving counseling and is most afraid that the father will take him away.
JJ borrowed a used car from a friend under the condition of monthly repayment and is now working as an Uber and taxi driver. She recently had to find her daughter, who had run away and was staying at a friend's house. She is concerned about her daughter’s school life as the child's father takes her on the way to school, feeds her breakfast, and makes her late for school. Her daughter had asked her several times to go on a trip for just the two of them, but JJ had not been able to go due to the financial situation. But now, following her daughter's running away, she decided that they should take a trip together.
RC is happy that her son, who was injured, has recovered well. She also shared that her son became the student president of his school. The children's father marrying someone else has resulted in a significant reduction in child support. Consequently, she has filed a motion for child support modification, with a hearing scheduled for mid-October. After years of not attending church since the divorce, she has decided to start attending worship services again with her children.
The Lions Club donated $6,000 to AW and pledged to provide an annual scholarship of $1,000 each to 12 middle and high school students from AW's single-mother families. The presentation ceremony is scheduled for the Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Party on November 22nd.
AW received a $25,000 fund with the help of Connie Suh, a board member of the medical organization named Capital Care.
Missionary Bora Im finished her sabbatical year and returned to Turkey to resume her ministry. She is working with Syrian refugees and notes that there are many lasting effects despite the end of the war. She has not yet received the residence permit required to live in Turkey.
Accompany Worldwide has created a new website: accompanyww.org. Please make use of it!
